I found a note that said “Love me forever? Because I will love you forever.” And of course I would find it today of all days. Today is May 6, 2013… 3 years ago today I started dating this guy. And he was everything I could ever want. He is nice, he was close to his family. He was charming. He treated me like a princess. He was perfect for me. He would tell you he wasn’t, but he was. We talked about growing old together and I really wanted that. I had never imagined myself talking about that with anyone, and there I was talking about it with this guy. And it felt real. My life, it felt complete. For the first time in my life I felt like I belonged somewhere. He would take me on the more perfect dates. Our first date was perfect. And our very last date was even more perfect.

We went to a fro yo place and I remember playing “Flight Attendent” against him. At first we were like “What the fuck is this?” But then we figured it out. I remember Taylor Swift’s song “We Are Never Getting Back Together” coming on and he joked around “If you ever sang that to me I would say ‘well then fine bitch!’ ” and I laughed and was like “Yeah, right. I would never say that to you.”

We then went and walked to the movie theatre and saw “Hope Springs”. I don’t remember if it was because it was on a Tuesday or something and it was free movie night or what not. But thats the movie we saw.

After the movie we walked back to his car and I just remember thinking how I was the luckiest girl in the world.

The next day I was going to play a trick on him. I was going to go hide outside or something. I wanted him to come and look for me. I was going to leave clues scattered around that when put together would form a picture. Instead of clues though I left 16 reasons why I loved him. I was hiding when I saw him get out of his car with a bouquet of flowers. Instead of hiding I was like “Omg! He bought me flowers! He bought me flowers!” And that put me even more on cloud nine. I couldn’t hide. I had to basically run to him and be like “THANK YOU SO MUCH!” I can even remember that he was wearing a green polo shirt with white stripes and blue jeans that day.

When he and I broke up I hoped and prayed that we would get back together. That if I gave him his space that it would show that I respected him and all I ever wanted was for him to be happy. That’s it.

Today, when I found that note, I just broke down. Why today? Why on May 6, the day that would have been our 3 year anniversary? And why am I sitting here crying?

I am still heartbroken, but hopefully soon I won’t be anymore. But I don’t know how to let go. It’s going to take a long time. Someday I will move on, but tonight I think I will just cry.

I hate having feelings. I get tossed out to the side. Tonight I watched Les Mis. It’s a wonderful movie, but the one character I related to was Eponine. The way she loved Marius, but watched him fall in love with another girl. I wish I was the Cosette to someone’s Marius, but I think I shall always be the Eponine.

My mom likes to point out that I’m not getting younger, and I feel as if I am going to disappoint her. My biggest worry growing up was getting married before Rosie died, because she is like a grandmother to me. And now it’s becoming finding someone before my own mother dies. And I feel as if I won’t. Who am I to be happy? Who am I to be called mom, or love. I know this is a pity post. I know someone is going to read this and think “Get over yourself.” But it’s how I feel. And I don’t want my friends to know, because they’ll say “You’ll find someone, you will. You’re so nice. You’re pretty too.”

But have you ever had this feeling, that you knew what your fate was? I remember sitting in church one day and I heard the pastor talking and he said “some people are never meant to get married.” What he meant was that there will be people who will change the world, and they are meant to make everyone else around them happy. And for them, making others happy will be their happiness.

And at that moment I knew. I knew, and it saddened me greatly. I will never be called Mom. I will never be married. I was never meant to be married. But that’s okay. What I am meant to be was to be the best Aunt to my niece, Alice. I am meant to make OTHERS happy.

I am meant to sacrifice my own happiness for others. I hope others will find their happy endings.
